DVD - “Supported by Air” with
Ilana Nevill
Using the Medium of Air in the Feldenkrais Method
A two-part
video documenting innovatory “work in progress” now
also available as a two part DVD
Over the course of many years some of
my FI pupils with very special needs kept
inspiring me to explore how the medium
of air captured in inflatable oval balls
(OROGINAL “pezzi” EGGs) can
be used to trigger, facilitate, and enhance
a person’s learning process.* See
Feldenkrais on Air
The idea to document this work came from
Josiah who possesses much knowledge and
many skills – among them that of
coping admirably with MS. He did most of
the filming, and countless other jobs as
well and I am infinitely grateful to him.
Since the video was completed in 2001
I have moved on considerably in my investigations,
for instance, simplifying and improving
the Air-Table. But all the basics of working
with air are well documented in Supported
by Air.
Part I ATM as Self-FI?
shows how air balls
can be used in traditional ATM and how
the same theme strategies can be applied
in Functional Integration in lying and
sitting.
Part II Functional Integration on Air
consists of extracts from sessions with
two people with multiple sclerosis, a stroke
patient, a stressed out academic and single
mother and a child with cerebral palsy.
The construction of an air table is demonstrated
and its various uses for kneeling, and lying
are shown.
